The greatest part of being a member of Information Systems is creating solutions that make work better and easier for the staff we serve. Staff asked us: “Can you create a solution that saves our emails to project folders on the network? Doing this manually is truly a mind numbing office task which is driving us nuts.” We researched and discovered Google Apps Script which was used to create a one-click Gmail add-on solution.

Learn how you can use Google Apps Script to integrate with Gmail and other GSuite applications. All that is needed to code along is a laptop, an internet connection, and a Google account. The development environment is in your browser, and the code used, Google Apps Script, runs on Google’s servers. Basic understanding of JavaScript is useful but expertise is not necessary.

Even if you are not a coder you will gain some insight into how to leverage Google services to solve workflow problems. Also note that Office365 has similar functionality, so even if you are not primarily a Google user, you may still find some useful ideas in this demo.

Previous Knowledge
It is helpful to have a basic understanding of JavaScript but it is not necessary for this session.

Software Installation Expectation
None required on the presentation workstation as the development environment is in the browser which will only require an Internet connection.
