Palmer Gibbs is a program manager in the Alexa organization at Amazon. She leads a team of editors, project managers, trainers, data associates, and business analysts who help make Alexa smarter, improve the customer experience, and increase internal teams’ efficiency. Prior to Amazon, Palmer worked in the field of journalism, with more than 15 years of newsroom experience. Most recently, she was the managing editor and politics editor at Graphiq, where she covered the 2016 election and led a team of writers and editors who crafted data-driven stories for syndication at large publishing partners. Palmer has covered campaign finance as a political reporter in Washington, D.C., worked with journalism students as a teaching assistant at Santa Barbara City College, and managed editorial production as the Copy Chief at The Santa Barbara Independent. Her work has been published in The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, Mashable, AOL.com, MSN.com, Politix, Yahoo.com, and others, and she has appeared on MSNBC and Southern California Public Radio. She holds her bachelor’s degree in political science from Westmont College and her master’s degree in journalism from Georgetown University.
